Record breaking 2011 Artists & Makers

The Artists & Makers show 2011 was the biggest and best yet.  There were over 60 stalls and very nearly 1500 visitors (not including children).  The cafe was a real attraction decorated with a woodland theme featuring real trees, chandeliers and moss (thanks to Alice at Vintage & Made) and the kid's craft table was busy all day with folk making willow stars and fruit and leaf wreaths.  Feedback this year was better than ever and everyone seemed to have a great day. Thanks to everyone who donated their time, brought their fabulous creations to share or just came and enjoyed the tea and cakes.

If you are interested in participating in 2012 for the first time, email us at the address in the about me section in the right hand column.

Art & craft inspired by nature available at Artists & Makers, 12th November

The Artist & Makers fair to be held at Lewes Town Hall on November 12th is strongly inspired by the natural world this year.  The beautiful autumnal themes of our artwork (many thanks to John Hamilton) are picked up in the Wild Wood Cafe, which is being designed by Vintage & Made with moss, glass, wood and animal imagery.  Many of this year's stall holders are also inspired by the natural world including Jo Crowther who declares "I am in my element in the landscape" and the light and form of the landscape inspire her striking photography.

Helen Brown works outside, directly from the landscape  on to wooden blocks that she prints from in her studio, while Liz Jameson's landscapes are inspired by growing up in Sussex.  Sally Cochrane's artwork, cushions and accessories are made from a range of natural and found fabrics where print effects form a base for hand and machine stitching, highlighting features of landscape  from both real and imaginary environments. Come along on Saturday and find the piece that fits into your own home landscape!

Artist & Makers - 12th November 2011

For the fourth year Artists & Makers returns to Lewes offering a chance to purchase contemporary design, craft and art from highly original local makers and designers across all media. With jewellery, furniture, ceramics, textiles, clothing the fair offers beautiful handcrafted objects to suit everyone's taste and budget.

This year Artists & Makers takes place on November the 12th and will capitalise on the buzz of bonfire to offer an autumnal feast of creative delights.

This year autumn will bring a harvest of local delights, with food and vintage stalls added to the usual contemporary crafts.

This site will showcase designers and artists who will be at the fair and provide updates on some of the stalls and attractions that will also be there on the day offering an opportunity to forage for some of the autumns ripest fruits.
